Faculty of Health & Behavioural
Sciences
The Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences is comprised
of three Schools; School of Health Sciences; School of
Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous Health; and School of Psychology.
Each of these schools offers a range of undergraduate and
postgraduate programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse
student population.
School of Health Sciences
The School of Health Sciences offers major teaching and research
programs in a diverse range of health-related discipline areas,
underpinned by sound science. Our programs allow students to
choose between profession-specific knowledge and skills, or a more
broadly based university education, focussing on human health.
The school boasts undergraduate and postgraduate study
opportunities in the areas of Public Health, Nutrition and
Dietetics, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, and Medical and
Health Science. Graduate students can also pursue further study in
Occupational Health and Safety. Postgraduate research programs are
also available via our Master of Science (Research) or PhD courses
of study.
School of Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous
Health
The School of Nursing, Midwifery &
Indigenous Health enjoys an excellent reputation both academically
and clinically, within the nursing profession. This is manifested
in several ways, most notably: 100% of our nursing graduates are in
full employment within 3 months of graduation; University of
Wollongong graduates consistently score highly in the NSW Nursing
Employment Consortium; and, positive feedback from students
regarding their experiences; recurring positive feedback from
clinical staff and their managers regarding student performance on
clinical practicum.
The School is also seen as a place
where excellent research and teaching takes place. Being within a
Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, we are in a position to
support research students with a diverse range of interests and to
offer opportunities for multidisciplinary research.
School of Psychology
The School of Psychology offers an innovative teaching program,
in undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. The
excellent facilities are matched by the calibre of our academic,
tutorial and support staff. Tutorials are just that - tutorials.
Unlike some of the large institutions we continue to run
face-to-face tutorial classes. Our skilled tutors are there to
guide and assist you.
We offer research opportunities across the broad spectrum of the
discipline and our researchers are supported by grants from the
Australian Research Council.
Faculty Research Activities
