PROGRAMS AT
RMIT
UNIVERSITY

RMIT University's little red racing car recently competed in
the 2008 Formula SAE(R) competition that was held at Michigan's
International Speedway. The four-day event is an annual
international student design competition that attracts entrants
from over 100 universities from around the world. Teams enter cars
that are judged according to presentation, engineering design,
acceleration, endurance, fuel economy and cost.
There are many prizes awarded,
and an overall winner is announced. RMIT came first for best fuel
economy and overall excellence in Powertrain development (an
industrial award supported by the USA Automotive Industry); and
third in the overall dynamic events. Altogether RMIT came an
impressive fifth.

RMIT produces work ready graduates
'In my program, I had a chance to do my final year project
with PBR Australia Pty Ltd. The project was about Modelling and
Control of Electro-Mechanical Brakes (EMB). The experience taught
me everything about managing the design, planning, and execution of
a real engineering project. The best part of the program was that I
got a chance to design a breathalyser and play with the
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).'
